TTH 12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., SRH 109
Environmental Assessment Resources: Crossett, AR
Due: 12:15 p.m., April 23
Submit: 10 apps, sites or web tools useful in crafting an environmental portrait of Crossett.
Research & Writing Task:
You’ve been assigned to investigate environmental conditions in Crossett.
Assemble any combination of 10 apps, web sites, tools or articles you would use to begin that investigation.
Each of your 10 choices should include an annotative paragraph summarizing the content and disclosing the kind of facts you would glean from that source.
Ex. “The Environmental Protection Agency’s water quality surveys describe the state of the waterways passing through and by the town. Cripple Creek appears to be the most polluted waterway in the area. Etc. etc.” (I made that up, BTW.)
When you’ve completed the 10, write a 250-word summary on what you’ve learned about environmental conditions in Crossett while you were compiling your list.
Use your critical thinking skills to decide which apps, sites, tools or articles will yield the most pertinent information. You don’t necessarily need to use one of each.
April 23 is our last class so no late papers will be accepted.
Carefully cite each source you use in your work. Avoid copying the research, ideas and words of others. Properly attribute all sources. For direct quotations, use quotation marks. Papers that copy the research and words of others without properly attributing the source will be given a zero and cannot be redone.
If you can’t get started, if you get stuck or if you have other difficulties, contact the instructor for help.
